#21 (EN): Sono the movie, mini community meetup, Squad

Have a nice Sunday! Now that the rain is gone, we have real e-car weather. Not too hot, not to cold - maximum range. Batteries feel most comfortable in similar temperatures as humans, range predictions in cars are approaching best numbers these days.

+++ SOLAR BODY PANELS +++

The first solar body panels for the "SVC3" have arrived in Munich. The next step is to mount them on the "Body in White", so we can see how it looks in the test drives sometime.

+++ Community Meeting South / Gröbenzell near Munich +++

On Thursday there was finally a first little community meeting after Covid - even if only on a small scale, independent of the Sonos. Besides Andreas and me, there were - besides a few other group members - also two representatives from Sono. The app development was represented by Johannes and Christina. Later, Jona joined us as a surprise guest.

We had a lot of fun and talked shop. I'm always surprised how broad the community is, with very different characters. Like friends you just haven't seen for a while, even if we've never met before.

The Sono app development crew took the opportunity to ask everyone present about their planned usage and car sharing. There were certainly a few new aspects added for us as users, but also for Sonos. A very interesting and exciting evening. We urgently hope for a repetition soon. Thanks to all who came!

At the same time "Sono the Movie" was running on Youtube, we didn't have time to watch it live.

+++ SONO THE MOVIE : EPISODE 1 +++

The Sono film premiered on YouTube. In 27 minutes and 19 seconds, Laurin and Jona describe how the journey from the tinkering garage to the New York Stock Exchange went and how it influenced them and their environment.

The two founders provide a very personal insight behind the scenes at Sono Motors and into their emotional world. The film is moving. It moves fans, and it raises the pulse of critics. They see a cult of personality. This is also evident from the comments. There is talk of goosebump moments as well as scam and fraud. The opinions and comments are just as diverse as here in the group. We think the film is good and those who know the Sonos personally see a lot of authenticity.

A few viewer voices from Youtube:

  • "Great video with goosebumps factor" (Hannes1079).

  • "This is a very special church" (Kenny).

  • "#staySono" (MyMusic Andy)

+++ SPRINT REPORT +++

You see that you don't see anything. The Sprint Report seems to be cancelled for today. Question to Radio Sono-wan: Where is the Sprint Report? I hope the answer will be less critical of the system than in the Radio Yerevan jokes. We had the topic at the community meeting, the report is something very special, even if hardly anyone understands the content. But with the dictionary and this sunday news we can do it.

+++ SHADE PARKING - NO THANKS +++

The days of looking for shady spots and thinking about where the sun will interfere in the next few hours are over with the Sion. A post on LinkedIn, which also gives a friendly shout-out to Henrik and Oliver (both Sono Solar), reveals the idea of building a matching functionality into the Sion so that it is always on the sunny side of life.

The real point of "Shadowmap" is to help property owners, buyers and tenants predict the shading of concrete gold, over the course of the day and year.

The application helps not only to choose the suitable property, that is the main purpose, but also the suitable sion parking next to it, in front of it or behind it. It also works with primal instinct and compass, but the application is already nicely descriptive, because it also takes into account building corners and - in the paid version - all seasons. The loading speed of the map, if it comes for the Sion, is certainly still doing something.

Here you can play yourself. Really interesting application.

Of course I tried it out for myself. For the roof it works quite well, at the height of the curb it is not right at all - the application fails for me because of nature, especially because of trees. They determines the shadow here, not the buildings. It looks completely different. But it also shows that there is a lot of room for improvement as soon as you have the data. In the city, without large trees aand everything concrete it might work much better.

+++ AMS +++

Audi Motor Sport wonders why small brands like Sono, E.Go and Microlino are having such a hard time. The answer at the end: "The business of building cars is just anything but easy." The Sion is mentioned.

+++ LEFT AND RIGHT: SQUAD +++

In the Netherlands a new startup is launching the "SQUAD". Currently still planned as L6E (maximum 45 km/h), the solar panel should deliver 20 km range per day. It is scheduled to be delivered in 2023 already.

+++ OMR +++

Laurin was in Hamburg at the OMR - NEW Mobility Summit - to discuss "Tenaciously sustainable: what it takes to make sustainability a company's DNA". Videos from the panel discussion are not yet available.

+++ FUN FACT +++

Electric air cabs like Lilium and Volocopter are - along with e-cars - another startup field with a lot of hope. Now Air-One, the world's first air cab hub, has opened in Coventry, England. The airfield, which looks a bit like a modern version of the Roncalli Circus, is the model for more than 200 electrified stations planned around the globe. Emission-free drones will transport passengers and cargo from there, as part of what Urban-Air Port calls "the green aviation revolution."

Tickets can already be purchased - but only to tour the Urban-Air Port.

Air traffic with drones is still out of the question, but the infrastructure also has to be tested. Such a hub is 1500 square meters in size. There would still be room for solar power.
