Have a great Sunday! Grab a cup of hot coffee or tea, here's the weekly roundup on our favorite startup again.
+++ INFOTAINMENT +++
The screen was dark for a long time, even at the Celebrate The Sun event the infotainment was still a secret. Now the first pictures can be seen on Twitter:

The digital usage concept of a car is important and should be as simple as possible. To make this happen, Sono is conducting interviews with volunteers next week. Unfortunately, all dates are already booked. You are quick to read in the newsletter. I'm sure this wasn't the last review appointment - and we're guaranteed to have photos here in the column next week.
+++ HOT AIR +++
CTO Markus shows "Vehicle 2 Load" on the Sion, i.e. a functioning Schuko socket. To prove it, a heat gun is connected, with 600° Celsius it is also certain that the hair is right. After AC charging and AC discharging via Schuko, two points of the test plan are ticked off - we’re getting closer to the exiting stuff, like high power discharging.

+++ ESQUIRE +++
Esquire is one of Burda's lifestyle magazines. Editor Patrick usually takes care of clothing trends ("the best high top sneakers for fall"), but also likes to provide hipsters with rankings.
After an elaborate investigative research in August titled "the 10 most streamed songs of all time on Spotify" (spoiler alert: Ed Sheeran is number 1), he has now followed up.
"10 E-car Start-Ups Still Driving Under the Radar."
Sono landed at #1 in that list. Whoever arrived here via Esquire: SIU, you hipsters!

+++ NEWSLETTER +++
It's the beginning of the month and Sono has sent out a new newsletter. Most of it is already known here. Refreshingly self-deprecating, it presents a new survey:
"Finally, another survey, and as always, your input is highly sought after. Today it's about the topic of "loading".

In the middle comes the question "What is most important to you when charging?" Don't worry, whether you answer "sun" or "electricity" - both are correct.
+++ KEYLESS HANDOVER +++
In addition to cars and the solar business, Sono has a third pillar - car sharing. One problem with this has always been that you have to hand over the keys yourself for existing vehicles that you share. There is now a solution for this, a new feature in the Sono car sharing app: contactless key handover. It works with quite a few vehicles that have central locking.
Technically it works like this, you get a box in which you put the key. Inside the box are little mechanical "fingers" (no joke) that press the buttons on the remote. You then put the box itself in the glove box.
And so the app can then unlock the car and also lock it again. Here's the update for the app.

In the Android store, everything is visually given, with teaser image, promo video - the full program.
+++ WALLABY +++
Wallaby is one of Sono's pilot partners in the B2B solar business. At "WindEnergie Hamburg" trade fair, a miniature boat was on display, not only with solar, but also with the concept of generating additional energy from the wave stroke.
"Energy harvesting" next level!

+++ LEFT AND RIGHT: RED BULL +++
BIDI is appearing more and more in the media, and not just in the BEV bubble. Red Bull reports, and Heise also has a special page.

+++ VALMET +++
Valmet is the contract manufacturer for the Sion. The "Welt" reports on how the plant is transforming itself into a specialist for e-vehicles. The article is marked as "advertorial", so half report, half advertisement.
+++THATS GOING TO WORK - BAVARIA INNOVATION PODCAST +++
Prof. Oliver Mayer explains the advantages of solar on the car, bidirectional charging and the possibility to supply oneself with energy. The Sion is mentioned from minute 8:20 and serves as an example the whole time.
His calculation is simple, the energy supply must become renewable, and if all e-cars we sell in Europe from now on had 1 kW of solar installed (Sion: 1.2 kW) - then these could already provide 220 gigawatts of power in 2030. Of course, this assumes many things, e.g. the SEVs have to stand outside during the day. The principle is clear - not only PV on the roof of the house - everywhere where it is possible, and in the sum then a lot helps a lot. The motto of the podcast is also "this will be something" and not "no, let me".

+++ FUN FACT +++
Sono tweeted a "meme" that's so shallow, I still have to laugh every time I see it. The motive is a classic, former wrestler VinceMcMahon watching things, plus the SVC1 to SVC3.

Another Fun Fact: Last Thursday I learned something. Homologation consists of many small tests that a vehicle must pass. One requirement is to make a noise at low speeds. Another is to not be too loud in city traffic either.
What was new to me was the consequential cost of traffic noise: It causes homes on the street to need thicker windows for insulation, then in many countries air conditioners have to be installed in homes to get the heat out, a vicious cycle. There are benefits to switching to e-cars, far beyond the car.
Have a great week, stay healthy.
